Major Gifts Officer (Full-Time)

Job Summary:

The Tampa Museum of Art Major Gift Officer (MGO) will play a pivotal role as the Museum moves toward closing out its more than $100 million Centennial Campaign for Expansion.  The MGO will be a vital link to philanthropists throughout the Tampa Bay area who wish to leave their legacy at an institution with vision and perseverance.  An MGO will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors ($50,000+).  In keeping with the Museum’s Phase II Capital Campaign Plan, the MGO will also work closely with museum leadership, development operations, and the Prospect Research Analyst. The MGO will report to the Campaign Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for major gifts ($50,000+).
  • Manage a portfolio of 80–125 high-net-worth prospects and current donors and develop personalized strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Strategically manage relationships through face-to-face and virtual visits.
  • Working with the Prospect Research Analyst, manage the full cycle of major gift solicitations (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, closing).
  • Partner with board members/volunteers, the Executive Director, and the Campaign Director for joint solicitations.
  • Ensure proper recognition and long-term donor relationship building.
  • Assist with fostering a culture of philanthropy at TMA.
  • Local and regional travel required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 5–7 years of major gift experience in the arts, higher education, or cultural organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills, as well as storytelling ability.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and DonorSearch.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Love of the arts is a plus.
