Join the Tampa Museum of Art’s corps of volunteers. The Museum utilizes volunteers in a wide variety of capacities. Learn how to give tours, help us raise money through our special events, or plan programs through FRIENDS.
If you are passionate about art, and love to talk to people, consider joining our team. You’ll interact with guests in the galleries, while ensuring the safety of the exhibitions. You’ll act as a communications liaison, discussing our programs and the benefits of membership. You will also occasionally have an opportunity to assist our Development department in communicating with our members. College students are encouraged to apply. Must be 18 or older.apply here
Docents are gallery teachers who guide tours of the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. Docent volunteers are an essential link between the public and the Museum. Our docents play an important role in providing visitors with a quality, engaging Museum gallery tour experience.
Under the direction of the Education Curator, docents are trained to deliver tours based on current museum pedagogy. Training takes place every other Monday from 10 am — 12 pm with additional training sessions scheduled as needed. Sessions include information about interpretive techniques, teaching methods, collections, and exhibitions.

FRIENDS of the Museum is a volunteer auxiliary group of the Tampa Museum of Art. Membership in FRIENDS is open to all members of the Tampa Museum of Art who wish to support the Museum through volunteer service. All FRIENDS make a $25 annual contribution to the group (in addition to their Museum membership). These membership fees help to make possible the major initiatives undertaken by the FRIENDS.
