Accessibility

The Tampa Museum of Art is committed to making its building and programs accessible to visitors with disabilities.

In order to access our ADA entrance to the Tampa Museum of Art, please use the Vinik Family Education Entrance doors located on the east end of the building. The entrance is also facing the Glazier Children’s Museum. The William F Poe garage located at 800 N Ashley Drive and 120 W Gasparilla Plaza is the nearest parking option, for easy crossing. There is a drop-off curb available for those that would like to utilize an option to drop guests off closer to the Vinik Family Education Entrance located on Gasparilla Plaza, between the Children’s Glazier Museum and our museum. Please note this drop-off curb is not available for parking.

The William F. Poe Parking Garage offers a total of 18 ADA-accessible parking spaces, the garage is an appropriate height for van accessibility. For individuals with mobility disabilities who wish to avoid traveling over railroad tracks, we recommend the ADA-accessible parking spots on the 4th and 5th floors to exit the garage using the southeast elevators.

Service animals must comply and be regulated with all ADA requirements. The Tampa Museum of Art does not permit Emotional Support Animals (ESA) on our premise.

Wheelchairs are available during your visit and may only be used on-site. Please see a Visitor Experience Representative for assistance.

Neurodivergencies

The museum is listed as Autism Friendly in the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Autism Friendly Business Directory. Our full and part-time staff has attended training with CARD USF staff to increase awareness of the needs of our visitors on the autism spectrum and to enhance our ability to respond effectively and sensitively to these needs.

The following times tend to be quieter and less crowded at the museum: Tuesday through Sunday: 10:00-11:00 and Monday-Wed 10:00-12:00 are also less crowded.

We have special hours for those looking to check out the museum with low sensory stimuli and less noise. The last Sunday of each month we open early for Art on the Spectrum.

We are partnered with CARD USF to provide headphones, sunglasses, and sensory toys for visitor use. Just ask the desk attendant for assistance and use.

Temperatures may vary between rooms in the museum. You may want to bring a light sweater.

We have a projection-based exhibition room that we mark on the map for those guests with light sensitivities.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Tampa Museum of Art.
