A Plein Air Meet-Up Group: Creating the New Art of Tampa Bay

Get outside and make some art in the landscape of Tampa Bay’s gorgeous scenery in this plein air painting course. Inspired by locales, scenes, and artists from the Poetry in Paint: The Artists of Old Tampa Bay exhibition on view at Tampa Museum of Art, this workshop will meet in one of Tampa’s picturesque parks. Soak in the beauty and inspiration of nature as you create your own contemporary images of Tampa Bay.

This course will meet in a local park and will require moving about the park to find your spot to paint. Bringing a lightweight camping chair, blanket, or other items that make your time in the park more comfortable is encouraged. Please bring a water-bottle for your paints.

Plein Air Meetup – Watercolors at Lettuce Lake Park

Next Plein Air Meetup January 31 – Watercolors at Lettuce Lake Park

Each student will receive a mobile watercolor kit that they can use for the duration of the class that has everything needed for painting outside, including:

  • Brushes
  • A viewfinder
  • Watercolor paper
  • A backing board with secured water cups & a secured palette of high-quality artist watercolors

Step-by-step instruction and printed handouts for beginners, guidance and feedback for practiced artists of other media.
