Tampa Museum of Art NEXTGEN Collectors’ Chat and Exhibition Tour

Tuesday, November 16th |  6pm-8pm | Dickey Family Lecture Hall

NextGen at the Tampa Museum of Art is hosting an in-person viewing of a *virtual Collectors’ Chat and invites community members in their 20s, 30s, and 40s that are interested in TMA’s NextGen initiative to join them.

The viewing will be held in the Dickey Family Lecture Hall and will include a conversation between Joanna Robotham, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, and collector Sultan Aooud Al Qassemi. Joanna and Sultan will be discussing Taking Shape: Abstraction from the Arab World, 1950s–1980s. Tours of the exhibition will be offered following the chat.

Sultan is also the founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation, an independent initiative established in 2010 to contribute to the intellectual development of the art scene in the Arab region by building a prominent and publicly accessible art collection in the United Arab Emirates. In 2018, 100 works from the collection were hosted on a long-term basis at the Sharjah Art Museum.

*The virtual program will be viewed in person at the Museum in the Dickey Family Lecture Hall. Complimentary wine and beer will be available during the viewing.
