About Wendy & Skyway/2021:
A novice drummer, Babcox sought out lessons and became a founding member of the feminist collective “Noisy Womxn,” a group dedicated to teaching percussion to female musicians of all levels. Babcox’s installation of snare drums and cyanotypes that was on view during the Skyway 20/21 Exhibition at the Tampa Museum of Art served as a metaphor for empowerment and resilience.
Skyway is a triennial celebration of artistic practices in the Tampa Bay region. Working together, curators from four different institutions including the Tampa Museum of Art, highlight the diversity of art being created in the Central Florida region. This collaborative performance occurred during the final month that Skyway 20/21 was on view at the Tampa Museum of Art.
