On the last Tuesday of the month, Firehouse Cultural Center hosts Tampa Museum of Art for our Teen Workshops. In these hands-on studio art classes, teen artists get to explore a variety of mediums and work closely with a local teaching artist.

On the last Tuesday monthly, the City of Tampa Golding Art Studio hosts Tampa Museum of Art for our Teen Workshops. In these hands-on studio art classes, teen artists get to explore a variety of mediums and work closely with a local teaching artist.  

Kids and Families
Art Play Date
4/8 | 10am-12pm 

Bring your favorite youngster to make some art together. This course will explore art-making for ages 4 and up. It’s a chance for children and their care-givers to make collaborative work together. Forget fridge-worthy; create memories & art with a special place in your heart and on your wall. 

Each Art Play Date Session is a stand-alone session for caregiver and child artist to play with materials and create a collaborative project. Sign up for a single session or book multiple Art Play Dates.  

Projects will vary by session and will include a variety of art-making media such as mixed media, paint, 2D, and 3D forms. 

Each registration covers admission for 1 caregiver + 1 child artist.

 Art Schooled, K-5
Friday, 4/7/2023 | 1-4pm 

Artschooled is a program where children can create works of art inspired by works of art currently on view at the Tampa Museum of Art. Projects are designed for children in grades K-5. All materials provided.

TMA Art in the Parks

Spring A: March 5 – April 16

 Plein Air Meetup
3/26 | 1-3pm 

Get outside and make some art in the landscape of Tampa Bay’s gorgeous scenery in this plein air painting course. This workshop will meet in one of Tampa’s picturesque parks. Soak in the beauty and inspiration of nature as you create art on at scenic locals throughout Hillsborough. 
 

March location will be Carrollwood Village Park.  

 
This course will meet in a local park and will require moving about the park to find your spot to paint. Bringing a lightweight camping chair, blanket, or other items that make your time in the park more comfortable is encouraged. Please bring a water-bottle for your paints. 

In Situ
4/30  | 1-3pm  

“In situ,” art refers to work that takes location as inspiration and is meant to exist in that space. If you love creating art en plein air and wish to explore nature through a variety of art media, this class is for you. 
 
This workshop will meet in one of Tampa’s picturesque parks. Soak in the beauty and inspiration of nature as you create art in collaboration with the environment. Each meetup will explore a different art media, all with a focus on creating art in collaboration with the environment.

Figure Drawing

Come practice your figure drawing skills with a live model. These 2-hour drawing sessions will include warm-up with gesture drawing and short poses followed by longer poses.

Lunch on the Grass 
4/13 | 11am-1pm 

This monthly artist networking event is the second week of every month on a rotating weekday to create scheduling equity and bring as many Tampa Bay artists as possible together. 
Bring your own bag lunch (or purchase some at the museum cafe once it re-opens). Gather on the grass and meet and get to know other local artists as well as TMA staff. 

Making Art Work

This bi-monthly professional development series for artists meets immediately after each Lunch on the Grass artist networking event. 
Topics will vary and include portfolio development, pricing strategies, getting your work in front of curators, and more.

Digital Illustration | Youth 
3/9 – 3/23 | Thursdays 6-7:30pm 

Perfect for your technology-loving young artist, this 3-week course will take your young artist’s drawing from traditional to digital.  Students will learn to draw on the tablet and create drawn digital artworks.
