OLLI – The Dialectics of Depth Psychology: The Freud-Jung Paradox
Freud and Jung, close collaborates before World War I, developed competing theories of mind. They finally reached an irreparable break over the age-old philosophical paradox of mind vs. body--the “Cartesian Problem”-- which each sought to resolve through his clinical practice and research. Hence the paradox: does the “mind” exist or not? And if not, how can there be a “therapy of mind,” a psychotherapy? Can we have such a therapy with no empirical mind to dissect?
