DESCRIPTION:Art on the Spectrum Hours:\nLast Sunday of Each Month\, 9am – 11am \nArt on the Spectrum is a special monthly event designed to welcome individuals with sensory sensitivities\, developmental differences\, and their caregivers. Enjoy exploring the museum in a calm\, low-crowd environment with sensory-friendly tools and supportive assistance available. You can borrow noise-canceling headphones or other sensory items from the front desk as well – just ask! This event offers children and their families a chance to connect with others who share similar experiences\, while enjoying all the museum has to offer. \nFree admission for Art on the Spectrum is made possible thanks to: The Autism License Plate Fund and The Autism Services Grants Council. \nArt on the Spectrum is hosted by the Tampa Museum of Art in partnership with the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (C.A.R.D.) at the University of South Florida. \nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:The Tampa Museum of Art invites you to join us in celebrating the opening of Avant Garde: Remarkable Women in the Permanent Collection\, featuring recent additions to the Tampa Museum of Art’s permanent collection. \nThis special event includes a Curator and Artist Chat with Joanna Robotham\, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art\, in conversation with artists Mernet Larsen\, Carol Mickett\, Selina Román\, and Nneka Jones. Guests will enjoy delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres from local favorites\, a cash bar\, and gallery access. \nThe Tampa Museum of Art’s permanent collection of art continues to grow at a feverish pace. Many recent acquisitions highlight art made by women who are celebrated both nationally and locally for their creative achievements. The exhibition Avant Garde: Remarkable Women in the Permanent Collection features recent additions to the collection with works by Selina Román\, Ya La’ford\, Nneka Jones\, Wendy Babcox\, and Lorraine Genovar—all artists with roots in the Tampa Bay area. Avant Garde also features artists new to the museum’s holdings including Tao Lewis\, Mika Rottenberg\, Hannah van Bart\, Kirsten Hassenfeld\, and Quisqueya Henriquez alongside artists such as Alma Thomas\, Niki de Saint Phalle\, Marisol\, Mernet Larsen\, and Elisabeth Condon. Bring the family and celebrate 100 years of art in Tampa with exhibitions that emphasize ancient\, modern\, and contemporary art. \nBeginning at 4 pm every Thursday\, walk up to the Welcome Desk and tell the Visitor Experience and Engagement Representatives the admission price you chose to pay for your visit to the museum.
