Join us for TMA Unpacked: a Virtual Series. Discover “more than a museum” each month as our staff members “unpack” what makes the Tampa Museum of Art thrive while exploring and answering your questions about different aspects of museum operations. Throughout the series you will hear from different departments on various topics related to museum operations, art, fundraising, programming and more!
On August 25th at 4pm, we introduce our first TMA Unpacked virtual session with the Penny and Jeff Vinik Executive Director, Dr. Michael Tomor. Dr. Tomor will examine what it means to direct a museum during a pandemic, from closing and reopening our doors, to partnerships and programs, and answer questions about how we are managing the impacts of museum operations during this time. We want to hear from you!

Dr. Michael Tomor began his directorship of the Tampa Museum of Art in April of 2015. Since his arrival, the museum has experienced unprecedented growth which has led to the development of four new staffing divisions of the Museum and Education programming has grown by 150%, with a full lineup of new education programs. Before arriving at the Tampa Museum of Art, Tomor served as Executive Director at the El Paso Museum of Art from 2006 to 2015. He received his Masters and PhD in Art History from Penn State University.
