Past is Present, the third gallery talk in the Sunday Sessions series, highlights reflections and interpretations of history through the lens of contemporary art. Works by Jonathas de Andrade, Fernando Bryce, Miroslaw Balka, Edouard Duval-Carrié, Genevieve Gaignard, Samuel Levi Jones, Robert Longo, Kara Walker, and Ai Weiwei, will be discussed. This talk will focus on how the artists re-examine historical events as a means to understand today’s world.
Join Joanna Robotham, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, for a special series of three Sunday gallery talks highlighting the artists featured in Time for Change: Art and Social Unrest in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection. Featuring over 50 artists from around the globe, Time for Change looks at how artists explore conflicts and contradictions of contemporary society, as well as analyze historical events and reframes them within the present.
