Remix is a series of make-and-take art workshops for adults inspired by the Museum’s current exhibitions with a new project every month. Workshops are designed to be enjoyed by participants of any skill level and all materials are provided.
The Tampa Museum of Art’s atrium has been transformed by
Jacob Hashimoto’s site-specifi c installation This Particle of
Dust. Hundreds of white and navy blue kite-like disks
suspended from the Museum’s ceiling. This Particle of Dust
explores the visual poetics of light and dark, color and form,
as well as space and architecture.
For our Remix: Particle of Dust session, students will create
their own kinetic sculptures inspired by Hashimoto’s
installation.
Students will be guided through the process of
building an armature and creating a sculpture
wrapped in masking tape, like Rune Olsen’s Thick
Skinned on view through April 13th in exhibition All
In Favor: New Works in the Permanent Collection.
