During her upcoming weeklong workshop artist Josette Urso will challenge her students to delve into the relationship between painting and collage.
For this artist talk Urso will explore this relationship through the lens of her own current work while also commenting on the evolution her work has taken. Part presentation and part gallery talk, Urso will also introduce two of her early works from the museum’s permanent collection, especially installed for this occasion, in the PNC Family Classroom and Gallery. Attendees will also discover overlap in Urso’s practice within the context of the museums two current exhibitions: Frontiers of Impressionism: Paintings from the Worcester Art Museum and Pepe Mar: Myth and Magic.
Urso says: “My paintings and collages are open-ended explorations of situations and places observed, considered and reimagined. With a playful sense of urgency, and a gymnasium of image collision and juxtaposition, I explore the ‘live’ qualities of experience while reflecting on my own inherent energy and reason for living.”
Josette Urso, a Brooklyn based visual artist, received her MFA/Painting from USF in Tampa. Her awards and residencies include those from the Gottlieb and Pollock-Krasner Foundations, Basil H.
