Join us every other Sunday for figure drawing in the Museum’s Golding-Scher classroom. Bring your favorite materials and work from a live nude model with a variety of timed poses and dramatic lighting. Model varies by session.

Inspired by the exhibition Abstract Expressionism: A Social Revolution, learn techniques for creating abstract poured paintings on tile with the fluid and intense colors of alcohol ink. All materials provided, no art experience required!

Learn how to do basic soldering, and the formation of metals into rings, pendants, and bracelets. After you’ve constructed some pieces, learn torch fire enameling techniques on copper to add color and texture to your designs.

Inspired by the Antiquities Collection, learn the basics of working with ceramics. Students can choose between slab, pinch pot, and coil methods to create unique works of art, and glazes will be available to paint your creations. No clay experience needed, and all tools and materials provided. Works will be fired offsite and picked up at the Museum.

Beginning Oil Painting @ JCC

A fun and challenging oil painting class for absolute beginners. Learn how to break forms down into basic shapes, how light and shadow work, color mixing, and how to put it everything together into an interesting composition. Create several studies the first few weeks, and end with the creation of original paintings based on personal photos and observations of nature.

Learn several pour painting techniques using Art Resin and paint. Techniques will include the Dirty Pour, Dipping, Bottle Bottom, and Sink Strainer methods. Each student will complete a minimum of 8 paintings by the end of the course. No drawing, painting, or prior artistic education required!
